This past September marked Temmi's 30th year of teaching yoga and mindfulness and providing psychotherapy services to midtown Toronto and beyond. It is almost 20 years since Temmi was at the forefront of the children's yoga movement in Canada.

YogaBuds was Toronto’s first studio to offer yoga for kids, teens and families — and indeed pioneered the children’s yoga movement in Canada. This was possible only because Temmi Ungerman Sears, Director of YogaBuds, combined backgrounds as an expressive therapist and special education teacher with International Iyengar Yoga Certification and decades of yoga experience. Temmi received special training in India from Dr. Geeta Iyengar (daughter of B.K.S. Iyengar) on teaching yoga to children, and on Yoga Therapy for Children. Temmi is a contributing writer and member of the Panel of Experts for ParentsCanada magazine. 

Confidence, strength…and fun! 

Classes combine classical Iyengar yoga instruction with YogaBuds’ unique blend of creativity and mindfulness in a fun, safe and non-competitive environment. At YogaBuds, all children are welcome regardless of size, ability or specific needs. Inclusion, safety, kindness and respect of are utmost importance. We focus on posture, enhance concentration and encourage introspection for greater self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence. Children feel good about themselves because of continued improvements and a sense of achievement while having fun. When students are enthusiastic and maintain consistency in attendance, great impacts are experienced in each child's development.

New Yoga and Mindfulness for Children with Anxiety

More and more children are experiencing anxiety than ever before. Yoga and Mindfulness has been shown to greatly help children learn to cope with these feelings while learning to center themselves, self-regulate and be armed with the necessary tools to manage and mitigate their anxiety. Temmi Ungerman Sears is highly qualified yoga teacher and yoga therapist, and has had extensive experience teaching children with ADHD, ADD and Anxiety. This special class is offered as a 6-week session starting Tuesdays, October 25. Please check the schedule for further details. Pre-registration is required.

Check out the March 2015 issue of Today’s Parent! Having pioneered the kids yoga movement in Canada, Temmi was interviewed for an article about the benefits of yoga for children. Natalie, age thirteen, is one of Temmi’s students and has been attending classes at YogaBuds since she was five years old. Her mother had some very interesting things to say in the article as well.
